Poem: At Talbenny (by Teresa)
At Talbenny
(a poem written to celebrate my upcoming birthday)
as we hiked the old cliff path.
Waves echo up from rock-strewn coves.
Looking out, we could see forever!
A clamor of cawing, happy together,
swirling and curling on the thermals,
sharply stark, densely dark
against the clear cerulean sky.
Lady Nature casts off her red jewels,
the long dance of bright lights bright days
and green dresses has ended.
The wild glorious party is over.
Bryony beads in artless fashion
strewn amidst the hawthorn and bramble.
Golds and ambers of the still-dressed trees glow
under the late sun’s rays.
Sweet and bitter berries remain,
their glossy full obsidian bodies
to feast upon, the last of their glorious grain.
Your day comes now at Talbenny, Edi,
and summer soft breezes sharpen and nip.
Collars pulled closer past lifted and later
sounds of gentle family chatter waft
from the over-warm sun room or
kitchen, over the busyness and
the oh-so-cosy log fire when night’s rest falls around,
blessed by abundance of joy, peace and plenty.
Best wishes for a good year
my friend, my Dear.
